Why storytelling

You did the analysis.
The deck buried it.

You spent two weeks on the engagement survey. The analysis holds up. You know where inclusion drops and which teams are struggling.

Then it goes into a deck. Slide one is "Survey Results." Slide two is "Demographic Breakdown." By slide six, leadership is checking their phones.

The finding was in there. Nobody saw it.

People read pictures faster than tables.

Fixing that is a skill. Pick the chart that makes the point, write the title that says it, cut the rest.

Who it's for

For people who find the answer, then lose the room.

HR business partners

Presenting to leaders who want the answer in one slide, not twenty.

New to people analytics

Expected to present the numbers now, not just produce them.

I/O psychology graduates

You can run the analysis. Nobody taught you to make the case for it.

HR teams with no data function

At a startup or NGO where you're the analyst and the presenter.

What you'll be able to present

Real questions. Not template slides.

The questions leadership actually asks, worked through on industry-relevant HR datasets.

Question · 01

Do all groups feel included equally?

Break the DEI items down by group. Chart percent agreeable so the gap is the first thing anyone sees.

percent agreeable · diverging bars
Question · 02

Where is eNPS lowest, and why?

Put eNPS next to the Likert items. Show the few that matter and cut the ones that don't.

chart choice · one highlight · insight titles
Question · 03

What should leadership act on first?

Turn everything you found into one recommendation, with one clear ask.

storyline · the ask slide · appendix
What you'll learn

Four stages. From how people see to what they decide.

Most people start at stage one.

Stage 01

How people read visuals

Why a chart beats a table, and how people group what they see: proximity, similarity, enclosure. Then using that to point attention where you want it.

Stage 02

Charts, and when to use each

Bar, line, histogram, heat map, waterfall, slope. Which one fits which question, why pie charts usually lose, and when a single sentence beats any chart.

Stage 03

Building the deck

Audience first. Titles that state the finding, one point per slide, and a storyline that builds to your recommendation.

Stage 04

Presenting it

Walking leadership through it live, and being ready for the hard questions.

How the coaching works

Your deck, reviewed slide by slide.

This is not a course. There are no pre-recorded videos and no template to fill in.

You build the charts and slides. We go through them with you, one at a time.

1This is a topic. What did you find? Put that here.
2Five colours for one point. Grey out everything except the gap.
3No ask. End on what you want leadership to do.

Common questions

Questions before you start.

It's the step after the analysis. You've found something in the data. Data storytelling is how you get someone else to see it and act on it: the right chart, a title that says what you found, and a deck that builds to a recommendation.
No. The data is built to look like what you'd see at work, but none of it comes from a real organisation.
A course gives you rules and a template. Here, someone reads your actual deck back to you and tells you what a senior leader will ask on slide three.
Google Sheets or Excel to build the charts, and PowerPoint for the deck.
Yes. It's billed monthly, and you can stop whenever you want.
Yes. You get a certificate of completion you can share on LinkedIn, in interviews, or with your employer.
